I then called the regional office at Autozone and spoke with the secretary for the man that is responsible for a number of stores. So, the “Andrew” kid lied just to threaten and scare me. He told me that no one did any such thing from AutoZone that day and that they would not take or hold property as it is a civil matter. I called the local police station and talked to an officer. Again, we did NOT steal anything, it was paid for and the money deducted from my card. I am on social security, if there is a crime on my record, it could affect my social security benefits.

My husband is a delivery driver in retail, if any such charge should show on his record he would be fired immediately. Apparently, even though I have proof that the item was paid for, they claimed that my husband stole it. I called later that evening and one of the mouthy young kids named Andrew told me the part was taken to the local police station. I spoke with the manager several days after and she said she didnt know anything but would work on it (Brittany) and call me back. I was told to call about it the next day and find out what was going on. I had to make a couple of brackets to support the lid on top of the modern battery, but that wasn't too difficult. I use an original Ford top, and ground strap and a sleeve on the positive cable. I finally got a local sheet metal guy to make them EXACTLY like the original, and now I'm happy. If you are going to reproduce a part, do it right. I bought a reproduction battery box once, and promptly discarded it, because an original Ford battery would not fit! This is why I dislike reproductions so much. The 5150-B battery box frame assembly is original to my car. I only have a grommet on the positive cable but I do have a short negative cable instead of a strap and I also have a reproduction box 5158 and top 5159, which is very nice. You must have a repro battery box, because the originals won't work without a little help! For the positive cable, they used a sleeve, but I guess you could call it a grommet. Did Ford have a part number for one? I personally don't think they used one since the whole battery box is grounded anyway. I'm not aware of a grommet for the ground strap. Just go down to the store and buy a battery!īy Kirk Peterson Absaroka County on Tuesday, Ma05:44 pm: TSC has them and they are usually sold out and just getting them in.īy Norman T. The Sam's club here in town has a pallet load from time to time. Group 1 6 Volt is the size for Model T's and LOTS of old cars and Ford tractors from the 20's-60's and more. The battery box setup I have on my '26 coupe, with access through the trunk, consists of the following part numbers: (1) 5150-B frame with a 1/2" thick wooden spacer shelf across the bottom strap (2) 5152-B hold down clamps (1) 5158 steel battery box and (1) 5159 battery box cover. In case you are interested, the part number of the battery is 960195. AutoZone has the perfect sized (height, width and length) battery to fit in the battery box with the positive and negative posts in the correct place. Today, I went to AutoZone and got a new 6 Volt "Duralast" battery to replace the AutoZone battery that has lasted for 4 1/2 years (I put it in in the winter of 2010) and finally gave out.
